Dear Colleagues,
I believe you will agree that motivation is essential to success in ELT and… it is so difficult to motivate students during this never-ending winter. Moreover, it is more difficult to motivate yourself to stay tuned, to find joy in routine work and not to be buried under tons of papers work. I think one of the ways to combat this winter’s depressing dominance is to plant and cultivate seeds of joy. This Newsletter will provide you with lots of news and ideas that could bring you energy, joy and wonder.

Dear Colleagues,
The summer is almost gone and this is the perfect time to start thinking and planning for the next school year. To avoid the panic of the first weeks of the academic year, you can take time now to think not only about Icebreaker Activities, Preparing for the First Day and Ideas for All Year but also learn from your colleagues how they never lose excitement about their jo, even at the time of crisis.
By the way, here is evidence that some people manage to thrive at this difficult time - our expat Marina Orlova, an L.A.-based Russian linguist has become very popular in the USA with her program http://www.hotforwords.com Here is what one can squeeze out of lectures on Lexicology with a “touch” of creativity!
In this issue you will find reports about summer events and useful links we have accumulated during this time.
Yours,
Elena
